camminare sulla spiaggia / to walk on the beach

Sandi of Whistlestop Cafe Cooking has sent out an invitation to share favorite things on Friday, any kind of thing: "Food, Clothes, Design, Poetry, Blogs~ anything goes!" So, here's my contribution to today's edition of Sandi's Friday Favorite Linky Party.

You already know some of my favorite activities: cooking (cucinare), reading (leggere), making cheese (fare il formaggio), etc. I also love walking on the beach. I like to be where water meets land. I particularly like to do this around sunrise (alba) or sunset (tramonto), when the light takes on warm tones. I love to walk on the beach any time of the year and in almost any type of weather. Here are a few photos of beaches to which I am particularly attached.

  1. This is the perfect favorite thing for me. I, too, love to be at the beach. I love to be at or near a beach more than anywhere else. Can’t believe I’ve now lived in the Midwest for almost 30 years — it’s crazy! Anyway; ahem. Your photos are wonderful.

  2. Next time I’m in La Jolla I’ll send you some photos from our beautiful beaches! Great photos… one of my favorite things in the world to do is camminare sulla spiaggia!

  3. Glad you agree with my choice, Sandi.
Thanks, Lisa. I did the reverse: I lived the first 30 years of my life far from the coast.
Ciao Jeremy. I have actually never been to La Jolla. I’m looking forward to seeing your photos of its beaches.
Ciao Astro. Magari ti faccio venire voglia di tornare da queste parti 😉
Hi Tanna. Glad you like the photos.

  4. Wonderful collection of photos, Simona. I love the ocean, any moving water, actually, but the sea has the power to make everything feel tranquil and connected, no matter how it may be raging. If I lived near a beach, I would visit in all kinds of weather, too.
