carote in bianco e nero / black and white rainbow carrots

black and white rainbow carrots
I love the mix of colors in the bunches of rainbow carrots now available at the farmers' market. I even got some seeds and planted them in a space of my little garden. As of this morning, I don't see any sign of a future crop. I am trying to remain optimistic about the future.

BlackWhiteWednesdayFinalOriginalLogo This is my submission to the week #2 edition of Black and White Wednesday – A Culinary Photography Event, recently launched by Susan of The Well-Seasoned Cook.

I have never taken a photo in black and white and Susan's event will provide me with the motivation to do so. However, I decided to start with something else I had never tried: transforming one of my color photos into a black and white one. The original of the photo can be seen in my recent post on carrots with cumin sauce.

This post contains the gallery of photos submitted to the event.

  1. Pretty, Simona. You have motivated me to go back and look at some of my root vegetable shots which are in color that I never published.
Thank you for joining in Black and White Wednesday. : )

  2. Ciao Susan. It was a pleasant surprise to see how well it worked. Root vegetables have interesting shapes and surfaces, which makes them good b/w subjects.
Ciao Caffettiera. Yes, so this photo is no longer about the various colors of the carrots but about their shape and the texture of the surface. It is challenging for me too to shift focus from color. My first love is actually nature photography.
