aglio appena colto / freshly dug garlic

freshly dug garlic
garlic in the rough

Garlic is beloved and photogenic, so it is no wonder that it has appeared in several photos of previous editions of Black and White Wednesday. The garlic in the photo above is dear to me, because it grew in my little garden. It was the first time I harvested garlic and it was great fun to dig up the bulbs, a sort of treasure hunt.

BlackWhiteWednesdayFinalOriginalLogo This is my submission to week #9 edition of Black and White Wednesday – A Culinary Photography Event created by Susan of The Well-Seasoned Cook. Savoring the weekly gallery is highly recommended: it’s a very special mid-week treat.

The photo was shot in color and then converted to black and white.

This post contains the gallery of photos submitted to the event.

  1. è una bellissima foto…….e io mi son presa la libertà di abbellirla un po’…..te la mando per mail, ma comunque secondo me merita di essere postata più grande……..diventa più tridimensionale, queste sono solo mie modeste supposizioni ^ ____ ^

  2. You’re so lucky to have your own garlic! In the shops there usually is gralic from Chine which is quite tasteless and low-quality. I’m always so happy to get some good garlic from my neighbour. By the way, your photo is really so beautiful!

  3. Ciao Paz. Indeed, I am pretty excited. And I am planning to plant more for the next season. I am glad you like the photo 🙂
Ciao Sra. The garlic has light pink streaks that are lost in the color shift. It’s nice to see the head coming out of the ground.
Ciao Caffettiera. You smell garlic and earth: it’s very pleasant.
Ciao Marta. Hai ragione e ti ringrazio della nota. Ho ingrandito la foto 🙂
Ciao Catalina and thanks for the kind words. I have seen Chinese garlic here in California as well, though I assume it is the name of the variety (I’ll have to check).
