In past years, I have tried two or three different recipes to make risotto alle fragole, but was never satisfied with the result, so I changed course and developed a recipe for risotto ai lamponi. But the basket of strawberries that I brought back from a recent visit to the Temescal farmers' market, inspired me to give risotto alle fragole another try, and this time the result was good. I am not yet ready to post the recipe, so for now you'll have to be satisfied with only a photo. Update: the recipe is in this post (with a small change from the version shown in this photo.)
Black and White Wednesday is on hold while Susan takes some time off to focus on her health. Following on the footsteps of Brii and Haalo, I am publishing a black and white photo on Wednesday as a special well-wishing card for Susan.
The photo was shot in color and then converted to black and white.
I love the idea of strawberry risotto. Beautiful black and white photo.
Oh no! The photo is so beautiful and way too much tempting π I need the recipe π I love anything with rice and risotto is one my favourite meals. I think you’re a bit too hard on yourself, the recipe is perfect, I bet π
Risotto alle fragole is somehow one of those recipes that never managed to convince me, I’ll wait for yours to see if I change my mind π
You are already getting straberries from the farmers? I’m so jealous now..
Ciao Francy. Lo speriamo tutti π Voglio provare a farlo di nuovo con un formaggio diverso e poi misurare meglio le quantita’ e poi posto la ricetta.
Thanks, Paz!
Ciao Catalina. I want to be able to be more precise in my instructions, so I want to make it once again. Hopefully, the recipe will be out in time for the upcoming strawberry season π
Ciao Caffettiera. I had made it using a couple of different approaches but the result was not convincing, as you say. This time, it came out much better. Strawberry season in California is very long and I assume we are having a milder than usual winter and that is why we keep finding strawberries at the market.
A wonderful idea, Simona. I think I will follow suit!
That would be great, Lynne. Thanks!
Dear Simona-
strawberry risotto is well worth making, and not difficult if you’re not intimidated. It also has novelty value for guests- “What! Risotto with strawberries!”.
Here is the relevant post on my blog, which is not a real recipe, but gives tips for those already proficient in risotto-making.

Ciao Cinzia
Ciao Cinzia and thanks for the link. I do use shallots and white wine and the rice is actually Vialone Nano (harder to find than Carnaroli, but really nice). I used some kefir cheese to finish it, but I will change that next time. Risotto with raspberries or with blackberries has a more striking color (and so does risotto with red beets). I am sure I will talk more about this recipe later in the season.
