grissini / breadsticks

grissini morbidi

grissini morbidi

A few days ago, I decided to make a recipe from Daniel Leader's Local Breads called Rosemary Breadsticks. It is a variation of a Rosemary Filone where the dough is shaped into sticks rather than loaves. I halved the quantities and got the nice breadsticks in the photo. As it happens every time you bake something with rosemary, the kitchen was full of a nice aroma.

These are not the typical crisp grissini I used to eat in Italy. Those are going to be my next bread-baking project. Stay tuned.

BlackWhiteWednesdayFinalOriginalLogoAnd stay tuned also for the return of Black and White Wednesday – A Culinary Photography Event created by Susan of The Well-Seasoned Cook. After a few weeks hiatus, Susan is back blogging. She has hinted at changes to the structure of her popular photo event when it starts again. While waiting for the details, I am getting back into the habit of sharing a black and white photo.

The photo was shot in color and then converted to sepia.

  2. Mmmm, they look delicious. I have lots of rosemary which I would like to use and they bread sticks look perfect. You are right that the house smells wonderful when baking with rosemary.

  3. Ciao Marta.
    Ciao Ivy. My rosemary bush is quite large and I like to harvest sprigs from it. Bread flavored with rosemary is really nice.
    Ciao Paz. They were yummy and were consumed fairly quickly.

  4. Beautiful, Simona. I always enjoy the sepia touches of your photographs. BWW will return for sure on Wednesday after Easter. Thanks for the kind shout-out. : }

  6. I saw grissini in our store so often I had to buy them 😀 I can say I’m in love with them and therefore I can’t wait to read your grissini posts! The photo is beautiful as always 🙂

  7. Thanks Susan for the kind words and for the alert. I hope to have something worthy of the inaugural day 😉
    Ciao Marta. Ouch!
E Buona Pasquetta!
    Thanks, Catalina! As a kid, I loved grissini, so I am excited about making them at home.
