antipasto / appetizer

rye bread, gravlax and cheese

pausing to capture a work in progress

Some images I compose intrigue me though I can't quite explain why. This is one of them. I was assembling an appetizer using slices of Swedish rye bread, gravlax and cheese, all homemade.

Maybe my eyes are influenced by the personal satisfaction of preparing a dish from elements that I created in my kitchen and about which, therefore, I know everything: how they came to be, how they developed (in this case, fermentation plays a major role), how they reached the stage at which I can put them on the table and smile at what I've done.

New bww logoThis is my contribution to edition #98 of Black and White Wednesday – A Culinary Photography Event created by Susan of The Well-Seasoned Cook, now organized by Cinzia of Cindystar, and hosted this week by Lynne of Cafe Lynnylu.

The photos were shot in color and then converted to black and white (Lightroom preset B&W Look 1).

This post contains the gallery of images contributed to the event.

On this page, you can find out who is hosting the current and future editions of the event.
