gelata / frost

parsley covered with frost

my parsley does not look pleased

For the past 10 days or so, bright sunny days have fallen asleep into freezing nights. This is not an unusual occurrence in the area where I live, but this year it has happened early and it is lasting longer than I remember.

In the morning, it is difficult to convince my body cocooned in warm blankets to get up and walk into a chilly house. But when I pull up the shades, my eyes smile at the sight of the embroidered grass and bushes.

The parsley I still have in my small patch does not loo particularly pleased early in the day. Later on, though, as the sun manages to raise the temperature, it appears to make peace with the weather and the world.

  1. Ciao Paz. They appear to have survived the cod spell, at least for now. Tonight it is again very cold (though not as cold as where you are). Frost is ice, and indeed the word gelato and gelata are related, though the first is sweet while the second is not quite as pleasant.

  2. Thanks, Simona! I learn something new from you all the time! BTW, in case it’s not obvious, I prefer gelato. But I enjoyed looking at the gelata in your photo. 🙂
