Three years after my first visit, I went back to La Barca. This time I bought some fruit. The boat is moored next to the Ponte dei pugni (Dorsoduro)
The photo is my contribution to edition #148 of Black and White Wednesday – A Culinary Photography Event created by Susan of The Well-Seasoned Cook, now organized by Cinzia of Cindystar, and hosted this week by Cinzia herself.
The photo was shot in color with my iPhone and then converted to black and white (Lightroom preset B&W Look 1).
The gallery of images contributed to the event.
Simona, It looks like you are having a grand time. I love your photos, keep ’em coming!
Thanks for this picture, Simona, hope you had a great time there! 🙂
I’ve always dreamed about living in Venice. Yes, parts of it are overrun with tourists, but once you’re off the beaten track it’s surprisingly empty. You can be all alone with the lagoon, gorgeous decaying buildings and your thoughts. There are few places on earth so hauntingly beautiful.
Beautiful captures, timeless image, Simona!
When in Venice, I love to pick up vegetables and fruit from the friendly vendor at La Barca.
And a small glass of wine and cicchetti at the bar right off the ponte.
We did have a grand time, Sally, and you’ll certainly see more photos of our visit.
You are welcome, Cinzia. We had a wonderful visit, thanks also to the gorgeous weather.
Me too, Frank, and I hold on to that dream, which actually got stronger during this visit. We stayed in Dorsoduro, just around the corner from the Barca, and enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere of the less touristy area. You’d love the Rialto fish market.
Osteria ai pugni, Merisi. We were there as well. I am already missing Venice deeply. Hope you’ll go soon.
Simona, is the Barca anywhere near Campo San Barnaba? We walked past a beautiful little floating produce shop several times?
Molly
Yes, Molly, it’s right around the corner, at one end of the Ponte dei Pugni. I know your students worked in the Campo. Had we been in Venice a couple of weeks earlier, we would have met there. We rented a small apartment off Calle Lunga San Barnaba: it was a great choice. I like the relative quiet of Dorsoduro.
Aha, Simona! How nice to think of us both photographing the Barca, just days apart!
Molly
We’ll see if next time we manage to be there at the same time. Wouldn’t it be fun?
Lovely in BW. 🙂
Thank you, Paz. I love that corner of Venice any time, any way.
