Friendly neighbors at the market, fascinating each on its own and striking in their juxtaposition, white irises and Tuscan kale arrested my eyes and made my hands reach for the camera. Darkness and light, ruggedness and smoothness, opposites embrace each other at the farmers' market.
This is my contribution to edition #78 of Black and White Wednesday – A Culinary Photography Event created by Susan of The Well-Seasoned Cook, now organized by Cinzia of Cindystar, and hosted this week by Aparna of My Diverse Kitchen.
The photo was shot in color and then converted to black and white (Lightroom preset B&W Look 2).

Love your lyrical description, Simona. Oh, and I am a big fan of Dino kale’s texture.
I haven’t purchased spring irises in ages. Their blooms, once cut as particularly ephemeral. Nah, I’ll get a small bouquet anyway. ; )
Gorgeous juxtaposition, Simona!
So lovely.
Ciao Susan. Me too! I find it really intriguing. We have wild irises on the coast: they are of a lovely pale purple. I agree with you that the cut ones are ephemeral, but they are so pretty. I vote in favor of getting yourself a small bouquet 🙂
Grazie, Merisi. I am glad you like the image.
Thanks, Alicia.
Very complimentary-the whites and blacks are stunning! Lovely words describing your image!
This is a striking juxtaposition, indeed. I also love the texture. Awesome photo. Happy B&W Wednesday!
What a lovely photo, Simona and lovely words too.
Iris is also one of my favorite flowers, I have many Iris Japonica Confusa in the garden.
They were given me be by my beloved mother-in-law, Iris.
And I love how they spread by themselves.

They are very nice to use as table centerpiece

baciussss
beautiful picture simona, truly lyric in its own way…
Thank you, Lynne.
Thank you, Paz.
Ciao Brii. I remember that Iris is the name of your late mother-in-law, so you have a special reason to love the flowers. In California they also grow wild and there is a special place in the Sierra where they bloom around a small lake. You’d love to see that 🙂
Thank you, Barbara.
Che bella foto! Anche nella mia campagna vicina crescono spontaneamente gli iris, bianchi e viola…
Buon Weekend anche a te Simona! <3
Grazie, Lucia.
Gorgeous.
Thank you, Lori Lynn.
